Software Engineer/Backend Developer – Stockholm for employment only
Uppdraget är tillsatt
Ronja is a newly started company by three ex-Northvolters on a mission to make manufacturing easy. By building the next generation of manufacturing software, Ronja provides an operating system that ensures everyone and everything in a factory works in harmony towards increased productivity, reduced cost, and making production of new hardware as easy as it can get.
This is a position as an employee only.
You need to have working permit and live in Stockholm.
Today’s manufacturing is far from easy. Every product we use has gone through a complex production process. Factories impact every aspect of our lives and the environment, contributing to about 20% of global GDP and employs 15% of the global workforce. Yet, despite its significance, manufacturing seems stuck in the past, with productivity stagnant since around 2010. Moreover, we’re facing a shortage of over 2.1 million factory workers by 2030 in the US alone. Additionally, as pressure mounts on factories to reduce their carbon footprint they need all the tools they can get to help reduce waste and optimize operations. This is crucial for us to move towards a future we can all get excited about.
Walking into most manufacturing facilities can be overwhelming for newcomers. It’s like entering a maze of processes, machines, people, and materials, all striving to produce high-quality products. However, more often than not, this symphony of manufacturing operates with discordant notes, leading to confusion and inefficiency.
While other industries have embraced digital solutions over the past two decades, manufacturing has lagged behind. Most factory systems worldwide rely on outdated software technology, making them rigid and difficult to adapt to modern needs.
Enter Ronja. We’re here to change the game. We believe that simplifying manufacturing means ensuring that everyone and everything in the factory understands their role and has the insights needed to perform optimally. Ronja makes collaboration between humans and machines seamless, enabling efficient production of the products the customers want. We empower those who understand the factory best by putting the control in their hands. Ronja is designed to evolve continuously based on the factory’s needs. We believe that the path to the future of manufacturing is a lot like climbing a ladder, it needs to happen step-by-step, and currently the pins are too far apart. We will provide a manufacturing OS that provides a seamless path from ancient software, excel, and paper; into the future. Fully harnessing the potential of industrial AI in connected factories, where everyone has the right information and tools readily available for improving productivity. Something the world really needs.
We already have the technology for moving into a sustainable future. Mass-scale manufacturing and raw materials are two of the key bottlenecks in making them readily available, at the right cost. We want to play our part in building an exciting future.
The role
We’re a team of three co-founders seeking one of our first hires, a software engineer who thrives in ambiguity and takes initiative. We believe that great products are built by teams where every one is involved in, and takes ownership of, solving real problems for end-users. No tickets are thrown over a fence.
What you will do
• Work closely with the founders to define and build an outstanding product with a focus on the technical aspects
• Write code that will run in factories all over the world
• Be an integral part in making key technical decisions and overall system architecture
• Be involved in future hiring
What you bring
We understand that we have high expectations in what to bring, however, whats more important than ticking all the boxes is the willingness to learn and develop with the company.
• A can-do attitude and user obsession
• +5 years of experience in software development, preferably within different sectors and niches
• A mindset to learn the skills required to help taking the company to the next stage
• Experience in building high-availability software
• Experience working across the stack. Most likely the focus will be backend, but as we are a small company we expect you to be able to contribute across different parts of the stack.
• We believe that you have experience working with modern software stacks such as Go, Rust, etc., however this is not required and we understand that it depends on the context. However, we definitely believe that you are excited to write some Go code.
Bullets
– Senior backend engineer with 5-10 years of experience.
– Has preferably worked at a scale-up or start-up.
– Has worked either with a modern tech stack (something like AWS, Go, Kotlin, Rust, etc.);
– or, worked at an impressive company like Spotify, Google, Apple, AWS, etc.
– The distinction here is that some larger companies only run Java for example. This, however, does not disqualify someone as a candidate because the engineering practices can be very strong.
– We are primarily hiring for a backend position. However, it’s way to early for some one who isn’t comfortable rolling up their sleeves and moving around as needed within the stack.
Bonus
– Go experience
– Working with a cloud provider
– Some SRE experience
– Some frontend experience
– Deep SQL knowledge
